Environmental Health, Safety, Sustainability & Security Manager (EHS3 Manager)

Our client is a global leader in providing services to the Biopharma Sector. They have a newly developed position for an EHS3 (Environmental Health Safety, Sustainability and Security) Manager (Ireland) who will directly report to and support the EHS3 Manager (UK & Ireland) and be based at the Distribution Centre in Dublin. The role will also support the wider EHS network and operations teams throughout the Ireland organisation. Operationally the role will have dotted line reporting to the Director of Operations in Ireland to ensure local requirements are met. The role is a multisite appointment and will also support on site operations within the organisation. The role will be the subject matter expert for all EHS3 matters for the Ireland operations providing legislative, technical and best practice guidance and support.

Role/Responsibilities:

  • To champion our client’s strategy for EHS3 throughout the sites and the wider business.
  • Generation of Systems of Work for onsite and offsite operations
  • Own and maintain current certification for ISO14001:2015 and ISO45001:2018
  • Evaluate and deliver EHS3 training provisions as needed to support operations
  • Evaluate legal compliance operations
  • Standardisation of working policies and procedures in consultation with the wider UK and European EHS organisation and in alignment to corporate policies
  • Support accident investigations and observation reporting using root cause analysis methodologies.
  • Monitor and maintain compliance to statutory inspections and reporting requirements.
  • Complete an EHS risk profile for in scope facilities and generate a targeted improvement plan in consultation with local leads.
  • Support the ABS objectives and TDM implementation
  • Use hazard evaluation tools (Bow ties, HazIds, HazOps etc.) to assess operational risk
  • Assess ATEx compliance and create action plans to address deficiencies.
  • Produce reports and data analysis to support EHS3 activities and communicate to the wider business.
  • Assess the environmental management system, developing a sustainable action plan to reduce operational impacts.
  • Create and maintain a EHS document management system
  • Assess the operation alignment to the UN Sustainability goals and implement our client’s vision for sustainability.
  • Manage site security provisions assessing procedures for security events
  • Review and update and ongoing management of site emergency procedures
  • Co-ordinate statutory inspections and management of actions arising
  • Project support as EHS3 specialist.
Qualifications:
  • NFQ level 6 qualification in Health and Safety i.e., NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent.
  • IOSH Graduate status or higher
  • Fire risk assessment qualification
  • ATex/DSEAR demonstratable competency
  • IEMA qualification or similar environmental qualification
  • Auditing qualification
Essential requirements/skills:
  • Extensive knowledge relating to Health and Safety and Environmental legislation.
  • Management of ISO 14001 and 45001 certifications with a working understanding of 9001
  • 5+ years experience in a similar multi-site safety management role
  • Strategic safety plan development
  • Experience within Chemical warehousing, Laboratory or manufacturing environments
  • Ability to work on own initiative, engage with associates and drive a safety value
  • High standard of English to proofread technical documents and interpret legal text
  • Previous experience in a customer facing role. Ability to influence customers to support our onsite safety activities.
  • High level of competence with Ms Office suite
  • A full Irish driving license is required.
