Our client is a leading supplier of lab equipment & consumables to the Pharmaceutical Sector across Ireland. They currently have a requirement for an Operations Managerwho will be responsible for the delivery and execution of key operational tasks at multiple customer sites within the Western region of Ireland, all of which can include but not limited to staff management, Inventory management, KPI metric review, customer services, business development, EHS, delivering operational efficiencies and improvements. Oversee complex customer presentations, service implementations, and cost reduction initiatives. Focus given to revenue growth and operational effectiveness. Provide leadership to a team of associates in the form of coordinating daily activities, providing direction, and offering support and guidance in the functional areas related to outsourced service solutions such as: inventory management, chemical tracking, warehousing, glass wash, purchasing, desk top delivery, lab support services, GxP, as well as scientific services and collaboration with field sales team. Manage a team within a discipline or department, typically comprised of career/intermediate professionals or Supervisors.

Role/Responsibilities:

  • Coaches, motivates, and supervises team members to successfully perform job requirements and to meet / exceed goals and site/regional objectives.
  • Leadership/ Management support of daily regional site operations
  • Update of regional training matrix, Sites EHS Risk assessments, site safety training and Site safety Audits
  • Management of site cover for region, e.g., holidays, sick leave, general absences etc
  • Provides training to all new associates and backup to associates to perform required tasks.
  • Coordinating operational issues for region as they arise
  • Acts as a liaison between customer, services and internal depts.
  • Manages budget and reviews/approves expense reports.
  • Customer reporting and data analysis.
  • Responsible for BOM review with the customers, Review’s sites Inventory consumption and Inventory metric reports, Performs additional inventory management related functions such as monitoring slow moving, provision stock and adhoc reporting as required
  • Serves as a role model and mentor in both words and actions for associates who express and exhibit a desire to pursue individual professional growth and team growth.
  • Establishes, maintains, and continuously reviews goals and objectives for the region, department to ensure they are in line with the overall corporate goals and objectives.
  • To carry out implementations of new systems and lab service provisions with the guidance of the Lab & Production country manager
  • Monitors and reports on actual performance vs. established goals and objectives.
  • Plans, develops, and implements programs and procedures, within scope of works, with an emphasis on improving regional &departmental productivity, individual productivity, and corporate profitability.
  • Reviews regional activity and aligns sites using best practice.
  • Drives site projects to embed Lab & Production services as a value-add supplier.
  • Handles administrative duties such as associate performance appraisals, annual leave scheduling, performance issues, etc.
  • Leads regional sites recruitment as required
  • Develops and maintains: Site SOP’s, SOW’s, SPI’s, KPI’s Risk assessments, Site Audit schedules etc.
  • Conducts internal and external presentations.
  • To work closely with the other Regional Team Leads and learn all aspects of the implementation and management of on-site personnel, Inventory Manager (Stock Management) system and the lab services provision
  • To gain operational experience within current engagements by spending time on-site within the existing teams
  • Carry out various administrative tasks for the region/department as and when required.
  • Over time, develop a full commercial understanding of the Lab and productions services offering to help identify new business opportunities
  • Promote our on-site services capability to our customers and support the sales team at the enquiry stage
  • Work with customer teams, when necessary, to ensure data is supplied to support service expansion proposal or new services bids and Identifies additional added value services and implements new site services as required.
  • Work with the Business Development Manager, Sales team, and tenders’ team, when necessary, to ensure data is supplied to support bids or proposal at tender stage
  • Work with all areas of the organisation to ensure customer requirements are met consistently
  • To implement Process improvements at current customer engagements and ensure customer Scope of works levels are always achieved and maintained to a high standard
  • To travel within Eastern region to engage with current on-site personnel
  • Ensures GxP compliance and good documentation practices.
  • Brings value to the customer from personal development in the industry
Education/Experience:
  • 2-3 years equivalent experience in team supervision, material handling/inventory replenishment, warehousing, operational management, business development or customer service
  • Leaving Certificate
  • Scientific/business qualification a distinct advantage
  • Experience in a Scientific Arena is essential
  • Previous stores or stock management experience preferred
  • A proactive attitude with good time management
  • Excellent computer skills and ability to learn new systems
  • Previous or current customer facing Sales and Operational experience
  • Proven excellent customer service focus and ability to work collaboratively within team environments
  • Previous experience in the completion of SOP’s, SOW’s, SLA, and risk assessments is desirable
  • Clear and concise written and spoken communication skills,
  • Excellent Attention to detail
  • Ability to be flexible and handle multiple responsibilities and tasks on a regular basis
  • Team Supervision, Stores/Warehouse, and stock management experience essential
  • Be a good team worker demonstrating loyalty and commitment to the organization and colleagues
  • Experience working in a GMP environment and GLP procedures is essential
  • To be flexible with working hours when required to deliver the service required to our customers
  • Self-motivated, energetic, dependable, precise attention to detail
  • Ability to partner with other teams and deliver results in a matrix environment, managing multiple internal and external key partners and stakeholders
  • Able to adapt emerging best practices and industry innovations
  • Outstanding communication skills on all levels and problem-solving
  • capabilities
  • Proven excellent customer service focus and ability to work collaboratively
  • Proficient in data capture, analysis and reporting utilising various IT systems
  • Manual Handling, Chemical Awareness training completed an advantage
  • Valid Full, clean driver’s license
  • Knowledge Lean Six Sigma process improvement and project coordination an advantage
