Packaging Engineer
A vacancy has arisen with our multinational medical device client in Cork for a Packaging Engineer on a 12 month contract. The successful candidate will lead the packaging solution development and launch process of all new products packaging for their various Customers.
Role/Responsibilities
• Main interface between Product Development / Product Marketing Teams / External Customers and the Global Packaging Solutions Group.
• Lead the launch / implementation activities of all new product pack design solutions.
• Gather both internal and external VOC (Voice of Customer) requirements for the specific Product / Package launch and develop the initial Pack Solution concepts alongside the Packaging Solutions Launch Group.
• Completion of the Packaging Design requirements document for each specific Product / Package utilising the Customer requirements feedback.
• Completion of the associated risk documentation for Packaging.
• Review progress of Package Solution Development both internally with the Global Packaging Solutions Group and our Customers.
• Completion of the Package Design Qualification activities related to the new product pack design solution.
• Provide full support of new packaging validation - equipment, process and materials and support of packaging suppliers for new products.
• Train manufacturing team members in new packaging equipment and technologies.
• Responsible for the completion of all NPDP / NPI Packaging deliverables in order to achieve Design Transfer of the new product.
• Develop the existing Packaging Solutions portfolio in terms of new pack designs, new technologies and new materials where applicable.
• Ensure awareness of regulatory and compliance requirements such as ISO 11607 during the Package development phase.
Skills/Experience
• Degree in Engineering, Science or Business discipline is required.
• 3 - 5 years relevant packaging experience in Engineering / Technical team within a regulated environment is essential.
• Excellent presentation and communication skills are essential. Individuals must possess the ability to present and represent at senior levels both inside and outside the organization.
• The individual must be a strategic thinker and should enjoy working in an aggressive, dynamic and results motivation global team based environment.
• Strong communication skills with both Internal and external agents.
• Self starter with demonstrated efficient work methods, analytical & problem solving skills and ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast paced environment.
