Our client an innovative medical device company in the West of Ireland is seeking a Senior Electronic Engineer to join its growing R&D team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a groundbreaking sensor-based platform used in the early detection and prevention of chronic health complications.

This hybrid role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on electronic design, thrives in fast-paced environments, and wants to work across the full product lifecycle—from concept to scale-up. Experience in regulated industries (e.g. medical devices, automotive, aerospace) is highly desirable.

Role/Responsibilities

As a Senior Electronic Engineer, you will:
  • Lead the development of embedded electronic systems aligned with regulatory and product requirements
  • Own hardware architecture, component selection, and analog/digital circuit design
  • Drive design transfer activities to manufacturing (DFM, DFT)
  • Liaise with suppliers, vendors, and manufacturing partners to ensure quality standards
  • Contribute to verification, validation, and risk analysis (e.g. FMEA)
  • Support test development and troubleshooting across development and production
  • Maintain design documentation in line with industry compliance and regulatory needs
  • Mentor junior engineers and support cross-functional collaboration

Skills/Experience
  • Degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or similar
  • 7+ years’ experience in electronic product development, ideally in a regulated sector

  • Strong proficiency in tools such as Altium Designer, and lab testing equipment
  • Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills
  • Imaging systems or camera module integration (Preferred)
  • Familiarity with ISO 13485 or regulated design controls (Preferred)
  • Embedded firmware/scripting (e.g. Python)
  • Background in New Product Introduction (NPI) and product industrialization
